Filipino Monkey
Filipino Monkey is the term for unofficial, unidentified
maritime radio transmissions that are meant to harass, disrupt
and aggravate official maritime communications. The term
Filipino Monkey can be both the term for the communications
and also the person making the transmissions, as in, "it must
be a Filipino Monkey making those transmissions." Because of
the anonymity of radio transmissions, it is almost impossible
to identify the culprits making the transmissions. The
culprits could be anyone, from persons operating under
state-sponsorship to bored radio operators passing the time. |
