US Navy Helps Haitians After Ike Devastation
Personnel from the USS Kearsarge have been assisting Hurricane Ike storm victims in Haiti. Haiti is facing a major humanitarian crisis after the hurricane ravaged the island of Hispaniola and left approximately one million homeless and flooded entire towns and roadways. So far, landing craft and helicopters from the USS Kearsarge have delivered 870 metric tons of supplies to Haiti, including 24,800 gallons of water.
