B-1B Lancer equipped with a Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod

Enemies of the United States can't be too happy about the B-1B bomber now equipped with a sniper pod. The sniper pod contains a long-range precision targeting system that allows the aircrew to see real-time imagery of the target. Before the upgrade, radar imagery could only pick out large objects like buildings, but the new sniper pod can now pick out ground troops as well. The pod had its first combat engagement on August 4th, successfully dropping a Guided Bomb Unit 38 on enemy ground forces in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan).
