Air Force Set to Deploy 'All-Seeing' UAV
This winter the US Air Force is set to deploy a Wide-area Airborne Surveillance Sensor (WASS) under its MQ-9 Reaper UAVs that will allow troops to look at the battlefield from more angles. The sensor, named the Gorgon Stare, will film an area with a four-kilometer radius underneath the Reaper during both day and night operations from 12 angles. Read More...

Navy Railgun Sets World Record
The Office of Naval Research Electromagnetic Railgun at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, fired a world-record setting 33 mega-joule shot, breaking the previous record established in 2008. The railgun is a high-energy, long-range gun launch system that uses electricity to launch projectiles capable of hitting targets at more than 200 nautical miles away with Mach 7 velocity. A future tactical railgun planned for US Navy ships will be able to hit targets at ranges almost 20 times farther than existing US Navy surface ship combat systems. Click here to see video.
